I hesitated when my instructor asked about my opinion about Positive Psychology. It was crazy. The guys in school are so good and they have a lot to say about that. I was totally out of words. I don't know if he will agree to what I say because he was having a real bad day that early Thursday. He was like... totally not in the mood and criticized too much about my classmates opinions. I was surprised when the reaction papers were returned back after he checked them. And he gave me a perfect score of 30. This is my work...
POSITIVE PSYCHOLGY
COMMENTS/CRITISISMS:
Positive Psychology arrived at the right time in our world where too much negativity and obstacles have been arising. It was the best timing… definitely because it opens us to the door of reality that there are things we really need to value. Our lives. One of the best meanings I found is it tells that “it makes normal life more fulfilling”. As human beings, we seek so many things that can give us pleasure. But one wrong move keeps us craving for more. Positive Psychology teaches us to handle things smoothly and it will lead us to a good life. Contented, happy, fulfilled. So far, I find it interesting. It really sounds different but different in a nice way because for the first time, what it contains are complete positive views. More than that, it talks purely about helping us, humans. We live in so many what ifs, and so many mistakes. I can’t think of better lessons than Positive Psychology can offer. Opening our minds to it changes one thing or two. We can start improving our lives. It helps us look into clearer side and not in life’s imperfections. It’s beyond doubt helpful.
IMPLICATION:
As a Psychology major, I believe that it is necessary to include positive psychology in school curriculums. First reason is that it teaches us to look life in a brighter side. People out of the field thinks that we do nothing better than reading minds and curing mental illnesses and we know of course that’s a big mistake because that’s not all. If we could learn more about Positive Psychology, we can get out with confidence and tell them that there’s more in psychology than what they think. By starting with ourselves, we can change others and perhaps the world to become better especially in handling their life situations and by looking and living their lives in a smarter way. Second, Positive Psychology should live not only in books or in words of those who study it. It should live inside the mind and inside the heart. Applying it in daily life situations can make us a better person and not just as future psychologists. Lastly, I also believe that we should not stop trusting that Positive Psychology can really make a difference. If it teaches us to be optimistic from the very start, we should end up the same way it did. There are so many things people want to feed us. But positive Psychology is special. It leads us to achieving contentment and happiness that is beyond measure. Positive Psychology can help us attain the things which can satisfy us surely. It provides us something that is not just for now… it’s for a lifetime.
When i shared my opinion, he was laughing... I thought, I was totally out of the topic. But i was wrong. He even wrote a little smiley face on my reaction paper. It was cute. Amazingly impressive.
