BEATING THE BULLIES
I COMMENTS/CRITISISMS:
I know how bad I look when I was a kid. Though my father always tells me, I am close to a princess - like daughter, many people don’t agree. As a baby, I am big and was labeled “Dabiana”. At grade school, a friend’s mom told that I wear cute clothes but my face isn’t cute. She’s so mean that I still can’t forget about her (well at least, her comment). My teacher in grade six called my penmanship “as big as a bull’s shit”. And the worst of all, a friend (well I thought she was) in my high school, went telling our common friends I am selfish and bad (for a reason I still don’t know until now). I’ve been a victim of bullying from the very beginning of my existence. It really affected me in all aspects. But since I am not really that vocal, I write my hurts on papers. It helped. I took all the mean words being thrown to me as an inspiration for me to improve myself. I learned to embraced my imperfections and become better.
II IMPLICATIONS:
The movie called “Mean Creek” showed one typical example of bullying you and bullying back among kids/teens. Bullying is mean… worse maybe… and dangerous. But of course, not all types of bullying results to negative. It also results to positive, especially on the part of the bully victim. Like what happened to me, if you have strong spirit to fight back, it will lead you to a self improvement because you will learn to embrace your weaknesses and improve them. It’s not easy. But we have to get in to realization that this is our life, and nobody has the right to let us down in any way. We have to stand on our own and defend ourselves because that’s the way we are suppose to do. Let not others take rule of you. We are the same people, seeking the same thing… respect. So let us give it to each other in the nicest way possible.
feeling great,
AeraH
